12V vs Generator

What are the performance differences between using a 12V system versus a generator for a hot water unit? I know the 12V system is cheaper. If the generator has an outlet it could run lights for night work. How do they compare when it comes to heating water, servicing, durability, etc.

I never had a problem with my generator, have over 2000 hours on it now..

Try pluging a light or wet vac into your 12 volt machine >>> Whoops you can't.....

I prefer the 12 volt machines, but I have always had good luck with them.
