12 volt hose reel

No, Don't run an electric hose reel off the PW battery. I have a dedicated 8D battery in my trailer which powers my electric jack, The DC interior lighting along with a 3000W inverter with transfer switch(for the AC lighting) along with the hose reel. I also use the same battery to run a Delevan transfer pump and my 55W back-up lights.

Depending on how busy the day was, I may charge the battery each night or if "Not so busy", I charge the battery every three days.

Some may feel this is too much extras however, It sure makes the work a lot easier and I don't run the piss out of the trucks alternator.

Dose your truck have a towing package ? Even if it dose or dose not an alternator will do 3 battery's no problem. Dose your inverter hook to the battery of the truck? If it is isn't that "running the piss " out of it?

Do electric hose reels need a dedicated battery or is the pw battery okay to use

You can use the battery that powers your pressure washer, as long as it's a Marine type starting battery. This is how we have ours set-up....may be a little over kill...but no problems in the last 2 years with this set-up...... x4 reels.

Re-read my post!!! I have it clearly stated all of the items run off of a 8D battery mounted in the trailer.......

I have a van that houses 1 electric reel and a F-450 flatbed that has 3 electric reels both rigs just use the battery under the hood.I guess I didn't know any better and have never had a failure due to dead battery. The alternate on truck seems to keep everything charged up. Just my 2 cents.

Okay think got it. I need to hook up my 12v pumps and planned on work lights also. 2 marine batteries feeding 2 hose reels, 12v pumps and work lights- the batteries wired into the trailer harness?? Think theres a spare spot on the truck harness plug-in which is going to a blank fuse location? Think either you Randy or Dan ran this by me for charging my roof pump battery.
Man Mike electric jack also sweet. What's powering the disco lights? My noisy jack is making me deaf.

Hey Joe,

Yes, The electric jack is sweet! I don't think I'll ever go back to hand crank... The trailer is also outfitted with a Max-Air 12v vent fan and the 3000w inverter runs the 13K BTU Carrier AC unit and the fluorescent lights . Almost forgot the Kenwood CD stereo... As you can tell, I spared nothing with the trailer rig. Built it 13 years ago and have absolutely enjoyed every use with it.

As you install each item, Add up the total "Amp Draw" of each item. With all of the 12v accessories I have in my trailer, It would fry an alternator in nothing flat.

That's why I have a 8D RV battery in the trailer. I don't need to leave the truck running and I don't have to worry about draining my PW battery. Simply plug in a battery charger at the end of the day.
