Well, they arrived.... Got 3 Motorola Moto X phones on Republic Wireless no contract plans for the family, might do the same for the crew next spring. Unlimited talk, text and wifi data for $10 per month per line. Yup, its really that cheap. If you want 3g data it goes up to like $25 per...

Townhome association rules and purchasing power

I'm wondering if anyone can share a comprehensive understanding of the messy world of townhomes associations. We've done several projects of various sizes and one common theme is that there is confusion among the owners and even among the board members of who is responsible for what charges...

    Cleaning carwash interior

I'll be doing some site visits to clean the interior of a few car washes soon. Some are touchless some are not. Does anyone have any tips on special chems or techniques to clean the floor, walls and equipment? Thanks.

    Unloader for 5.5gpm and 1200psi

I recently modified one of my first power washers (was a Ridgid 2.7gpm 3000 psi, with a 6hp subaru), into a backup house washing machine (5.5gpm 1200 psi). It was a fun project, I decided I wanted the same small footprint but going with belt drive that meant I had to orient the machine above the...

Can you recommend an orbital sander?

I had one of my black and decker 5" orbitals go out on me the other day, the other one needs a new backer pad, but I'm thinking of just investing in something higher quality. What's the best reasonably priced orbital sander out there? I use these for finishing up strip jobs on wood decks.

Favorite smart phone app or tool

Well my first smart phone is on its way. Its an android. I'm curious what everyone's favorite app is? I'm excited about integrating Voxer into my communications with staff. Also to be able to check the weather radar in the field will be nice.

    Deckster plumbing diagram

Anybody have a schematic on how a deckster should be plumbed? I've got a couple pumptec 114t's on the way and I'm throwing one on a dolly frame and the other just in a bucket with a battery. Looking on line i can't make sense of all the hoses, multiple inlets, outlets, gauges, bypass etc etc.

    HELP acid damaged annodized aluminum

So we recently washed an old brick building with GSR from Eacochem, and the brick turned out great, but the new windows on the ground level had annodized aluminum frames that got very discolored. We pre-wetted them, used a flood bar on the lift, had a ground guy rinsing and post rinsed but...

    Best clear wood finish

I have a client (an association we regularly clean gutters for) who just had all 100 or so of their decks replaced. They are wanting to take better care of them this time but are insisting on a clear wood finish over a stain. I'm a big fan of Ready Seal but color is a tough sell for these folks...

    Help with old brick cleaning

This is from an 80+ year old building a friend of mine owns. I did some testing and nothing I tried (2500psi, roof wash (sh plus detergent), acid, two-stepping) did much of anything to the grime. I tried some higher pressure (3200psi green tip) and at first I thought it was working but on closer...

    Burner fuel pressure

I'm having a weird problem with my burner. A couple times yesterday while we were working along fine it started rumbling louder and I looked over and it was billowing smoke. So I turned it off and the fired it back up and the problem went away. I check my burner fuel pressure gauge and the...

Modifying Variable nozzle to replace JROD

I'm going to bring up an old topic that has been discussed a little but I can't find any definitive answers too. It kind of came up here. It seems like a push/pull variable nozzle would be a great substitute for the jrod in house washing, except that the nozzle size only goes up to 8.0 (which...

    10,000 PSI diesel pw

This isn't mine but I came across it on CL. It looks 30 years old. http://springfield.craigslist.org/tls/3497729948.html Look at the size of that pump! Does anybody here use equipment with this capacity, if so for what?

Help stripping cure wax from new construction concrete

Thanks guys. The manufacturer recommended their own product but it would have cost more than our entire bid. We just plugged away and cranked up the heat. We finished in the dark without as much light as we would have liked but got er done. I think it would have been significantly easier if our...

Help stripping cure wax from new construction concrete

I'm in the middle of a big project (a county bridge deck) and I'm hoping someone has a chemical solution. The concrete has been covered in a white wax curing product that they now want stripped off so they can put a penetrating sealant on the concrete. The only thing that works is lots of heat...

    Coil insulation

I took the cap off my burner (landa) and the insulation is all black and pretty burned up. I thought this might be the case since that fire ball that came out of it a couple weeks ago (I didn't have the generator full throttle so my burner was dumping fuel but not igniting it, when I hooked up...

    Gear Box assembly

I got a gear box from an online supplier yesterday and it didn't come with any assembly instructions. It also doesn't have any make or model on it. I want to get this installed between my Kohler 18hp and my 5.5gpm pump this weekend, but I don't want to screw it up so does anybody have assembly...

    Kohler Command 18 dies

I have a Kolhler Command 18 probably high hours (I bought it used with unknown hours) paired via belt drive with a 5.5gpm 3500 psi pump. Curious if this machine is salvageable...its been running pretty tired under full load for a awhile now (drops under 3000 rpm) but I haven't minded since I...
