Can a system be considered fire safe even if it is not cleaned per NFPA 96 (i.e. ENTIRE exhaust system cleaned to BARE METAL)?
11.4.1 Upon inspection, if found to be contaminated with deposits from grease-laden vapors, the entire exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained...
Here is a picture of a fusible link that looks like it was recently changed. The company that does the fire systems is the same company that does the grease. I wonder if something like this would get taken care of or if the guy just changed the link and went on his way.
Here is a good article on Phil Acklands site about fire prevention and kitchen exhaust cleaners.

As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything...
When I bid this job I told the guy it was one of the worst I have ever seen. 12' lateral with one access at the end of the lateral. The duct runs flush with the ceiling and the access door is about a 12"x12" that means you will have to lay down the whole time you are cleaning it. He wanted to...
Veterans Affairs Bldg, St. Albans, NY. Looks like more than just exhaust cleaning. It has been extended to Dec 3rd so not much time left to look at it.

You should be able to tell what restaurant this is by the look of the systems and the grease. You get extra credit if you can tell me what company is "cleaning" it ;)
