answer to gravity fed pressure washers

Hey guys I've just posted a update on this issue....check out the new post and watch the video link I posted I hope it helps a lot!!!!!

Bumping this one because tank feed problems still burn up a lot of pumps.

The guys here covered it well. Here's the short list.

  • Tank higher than the pump. Gravity is your friend.
  • Big feed line. Go at least as big as the pump inlet, and bigger on high gpm machines.
  • Use hose that won't collapse. Reinforced suction hose or PVC. Clear poly flattens out when it gets hot.
  • Keep the inlet filter clean. A dirty filter starves the pump just like a small hose.
  • One bulkhead per pump if you run two machines off one tank.
  • Direct drives were built to run off a spigot. Ask your distributor or the pump maker before you tank feed one.
  • Never let the tank run dry. Running a pump without water wrecks the packings fast.

If your hose shakes, your gun pulses, or your pump sounds rough, check the water feed first.
