Ouch.

Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

Oh we didn't do that, BTW. We knew better way before ever doing our first tennis court. I called and interviewed many tennis court manufacturers here in FLA from the get-go.

Oh, I know you didn't do it.
I've seen you give good advice on tennis courts in the past.

Sucks for whoever owns it but still fuuuuuuuuuuuunny.

I'd like to hear some tips on cleaning tennis courts too. I just cleaned 2 and have a few more coming up next month...

I'll let the expert handle this.
I don't fool with them because I don't want to buy one. The most I'll do is spray them off with a soap tip.

Dave?

I am sure you did David!
A guy had a Comet pump and some questions, I told him to contact you.
Did he ever call you ?
He bought a skid from Northern Tool with a Vomit, I mean COMET pump on it.

I'd love to hear the answer on how to clean a tennis court. Please PM me if you aren't willing to share in the open.

Tennis courts are easy ( in method )
DS CHL - not with a chem tip, a slightly closed ball valve ( to create a semi-fan spray ). It will put out 2-3x times more chem this way. We don't use soap with the courts. Rinsing IMO would take way to long, and if not rinsed good enough - a FALL hazard.

On the last set of courts we used approx. 20 gallons of chemicals

We spray twice and let dwell. A long time. ( 10 minutes or so per DS'ing )

Now its rinse time.

Use VOLUME not pressure and NO DISC CLEANERS.

I don't care what anyone tells you....

  • I'll walk faster......It only takes 1 brief second to tear up the thin layer of paint ..and if you could do it without stopping you'd put whirl marks down

So we use our 8 gpm machines with wands and huge tips, remember the chemicals did the work YOUR JUST rinsing the dead algae away.

If you see black and think its algae and a soap tip doesn't remove it, it is probably the asphalt showing through the paint.

GUM - your hosed here, sometimes the heat alone will remove the paint with the gum.
Obviously your NOT going to use a 25 tip on the gum. We have seen many courts with holes in them from that "last guy" that did the courts.

Last but not least ....

Tell the customer that the court will lighten from the chems.

I think that I spoke with 4 or 5 local installers here and they all said that the only time they use a disc cleaner is when they are prepping the court to be refinished.

I can think of more, but that is the most of it.

Yes he did, I think. I get a lot of phone calls from people I don't know regarding PWing.

Thanks David.I saw this thread last night and ironically washed a house for a lady on the HOA who loves tennis.Long story short,She asked if I did courts because they were not happy with the last guy. The courts looked just like your pics except He completed all four courts.Even the sidewalks looked horrible with black mold, lines, swirls, etc.I Forgot my camera.anyway, appreciate the info.

OH I forgot to add this.

One a lot of courts you'll see what looks like squeegee lines, this is from when they painted it. They dump the paint on it and squeegee it smooth.

I may have a video and I'll PM any one who is interested in viewing it - It show a company redoing a court.

Here is a court that has been totally neglected.

We get that monster line in that first picture with our 30" cleaners, but, only on some. We DS some CHL and that takes care of it.

I'm suprised that they left it that way.

picture #2 - - nice ring.
