How not to Pressure Wash an Awning

I'm going to be very Blunt, This video is a Great Example of how to ruin the material and strip any UV protection the awning has.

I may get a call from the people who made the video, don't really care.

Cleaning Awning safely matter, if you put undo wear onto the material and damage the threads the awning will not last as long. ( Period)

Awning made of fibers should not be pressure washed at this intense pressure. If anything the pressure washer is only used as a tool to throw chemicals and rinse the awning.

Brushing awning with approved brushes that also will not damage material is very important. Softer brushes are suggesting and more course ones can be used on certain materials.

Detergents and water are your cleaning Solvents. Keep in mind that the sun and washing is what wears out awnings.

Protecting the awning from UV after clean is a very important process to ensure proper restoration. Chemicals can strip this from the material exposing this to the sun causing damage quickly that you might be held Liable if the manufacture can prove you stripped this and did not replace it.

The use if 3000 psi on awnings is retarded. This is not only damaging the Awning its literally tearing the fibers this weakening the strength of the entire awning. After the cleaning the water weight will pull the awing thus causing a dip. If this dip occurs you know that you may have been to aggressive.

Buyers Be-ware of Pressure washing service people using the wrong tools to achieve safe cleaning results.

i guarantee they had the lowest price......get what you pay for

not always the case!!

the problem is he leaves the customer might even recommend him to another person. the awnings will look great, its months down the road before they fall apart.

yes, I have a WFP with an awning brush on it. I used to use winsol to clean them. Then I found another product. Just as good and about half the price. I think it came from do it right inc.

You can clean them fast and safe, blasting material is no good for sure!!

Is there a reason you can't just use bleach to clean an awning? I have no idea just seems like it would kill the mold and be good

can you use Bleach on a Red Shirt?

There are good awning chemicals to use, I got some from the company out of Florida, I think it was Awning Rejuvenation Systems????

There are not a lot of awnings here so not a lot of work.

Blockbuster lets their awnings rot away just like Subway does, it is a shame all that money just rotting away, O Well.

So Ron if you can not use Bleach on them what can you use to clean them how do you protect it from the uv rays.

By applying a protectant after cleaning Process, did I say you cannot use Bleach? Never said that...... your making assumptions.

Come to Florida and I will give you a mix thats safe and will kill mold and mildew minimizing wear and color of awning. ( this will be a free demo in Florida)

I was hoping that there was a free demo in Tampa, FL. We have a company around here that cleans awnings that way using a 4000 psi pressure washer, Seen him the other day cleaning apartment complex that was stucco and it looks like he was trying to draw snakes on the buildings. I will try to stop by and take pictures.
