Wireless network,

I just got wireless in my home and Office. I don’t have much security until tomorrow so if you want to extract my games and such out of my puter you better do it tonight.

Fire wall and security go in tomorrow, I still will not allow my accounting system wired in with the network because I don’t trust it. My machine that takes care of the money never goes online and never interfaces with any other machine by Disc or anything.

I like the network I have had it working for a couple days. I can take my laptop and literally print a doc from my car while at a jobsite. It’s cool!!!!

I had disconnected my mobile internet because I hated the slow connections. I now am much faster while at home on the cable wireless and tolerate the speed when I leave the 500 foot radius of my home.

I suppose my competitors will be out front now with the wireless lap tops trying to tap in. Just a reminder none, I mean none of my customer files are on the network. ( did everyone hear that?

Anyone ever played counter strike or any other fantasy games online? I primarily did this so my kids could play games together in the house. They love playing these war games online. I myself do not play but I might mess around a little so at Christmas I can hang.

I must say so far this network thing is something I should have done long ago….

Ron,you sound like you know a thing or two about hacking into ones system and stealing customers files, tell me its not true.LOL

Hey Ron, I was just poking around your hard drive a little bit and I think you need to run defrag and scan disk...your machine will run a little bit faster also you should think about a bigger hard drive and updating the drivers on your video card (or replace it with a newer one). Thanks for all the software and data. I was only able to access about three quarters of it due to time constraints on my end, so do you think you could delay the firewall one more night????

Ron, by the way you should password protect those video and picture files so your kids dont see them!

WOW what PICTURES:D and Ron you forgot your little black book, all those phone numbers of females, man no wonder you never get much sleep, I mean all that service you are provided.

Thanks for allowing me to tap into your system, geez I need to take a drive back down there soon!

I havent been on the board in almost two days..........but I just bought all of the hardware tonight to set up a wireless network..........might get it set up tomorrow..........we'll see. Don't worry............the firewalls will be in place immediately........so dont get any ideas. :)

IDEA'S Mike, ME?

The things people believe even if not true.

Ok truth here, I honestly have no idea how to hack into computers, wireless or otherwise.

I do have the router and firewall setup and know it works.

I have been told that the software firewalls are not really all what they claim to be, I do not know how true that statement is.

Does anyone know if I were to install software firewall on top of the router firewall will it mess up my computer, will it mess up anything ?

Jon

PS: Ron always fun messing with ya buddy.

A hardware fire wall creates a phony IP address that hides your actual IP address. There is nothing on a hardware firewall that a hacker needs or wants and they cant "see" you actual computer.
A software firewall is a very rudimentary, yet programmable block to outsiders. As for using both, I do, as I had the software first, Does it help? My software logs virtually nothing for activity since I installed the hardware! A good test of your system can be found in the tools section of DSLREPORTS.COM It will bombard your system and tell you how to go about plugging up your leaks.
