Whip lines?

I dont use whip lines, but I think that I should. The hoses always seem to break at the connector to the gun. I would think that would decrease the frequency of hose replacement.

Never used a whip line and have had many hoses blow at the gun, but not for a few years. I think they make sense but I just always use a good swivel and dont pull the hose with the gun. Sometimes they sound like a gunshot when they blow!

I have 5 guns I switch between of for different applications. And I switch them a lot. I think I'm going to take the whip lines off the two. It's just physically easier to hook it up to the gun instead of the flimsy line.

I started out with a whip hose and swivel I got from a company that always advertises low prices and the first time I used that whiphose w/swivel the swivel leaked all over the place.

I changed out that hose/swivel to the other one I ordered and it also leaked. I had ordered these a few months earlier and knew I would get the runaround if I tried to complain about them. Just another "X" against that company.

I switched to using the Brass swivel I got from Bob at PressureTek and use the ball valve and no problems with hose ends going bad. I had the first swivel explode, it does sound like a gun shot. I had that swivel for over 1.5 years so it was probably time to replace it.

I tried the whip hose but hated the extra weight and hassle. Every pressure hose I have ever bought has a swivel end on one end. Put that end at you gun and you should have no problems. Why are you using 5 different guns. I use one gun for surfacers, wands, everything. No need to have a heavy ball valve on the end of the hose because you don't have to turn the machine of.

Two guns are setup specifically for evaporator coil cleaning. I has a 5 ft wand to reach inside across big units, the other has a short wand. I've got two identical one for cleaning filters and condenser coils so I can have two guys working at once if I have to. Then I've got the regular dual wand for cleaning.

Tony, if you have a quick connect on the end of your gun you can just pop in any length wand you want to. When I am doing decks I pop in a 3 footer, if I need reach on a tall building I pop in a ten footer, Same gun . I bought a dual wand about10 years ago and threw it away after one day. If you have a system that works, stick with, but I think you might should try without all those guns and heavy dual lances.

I am sure your system works great for you Tony but check this out, maybe it might give you some ideas, maybe not.

I have many different length wands for a lot of applications. On one end of each wand is a plug to plug into the gun or dual lance and on the other end of the wand is a coupler to put a QC nozzle or another wand if needed.

My guns and dual lance's are setup with a 3/8" coupler on the inlet so the ballvalve at the end of the hose will plug in there and the outlet of the gun has a 1/4" coupler for the wands or nozzles to plug into.

This way has been working great for me for years now and is very adaptable for almost any job I do, even working in the Bucket Truck.

If I need a longer wand for cleaning, I just block the ball valve and take the wand off and put another on and open the valve, takes seconds.

Just the way I do things and it works great for me.

We have always used whips. Here is a picture of one.

All of our fittings are 1/4" quick disconnects. We use Mosmatic swivels and put a shield over as much as possible to protect the operator from getting burned.
