When it rains it pours

Well, this morning we got a bit of bad news that we had planned for and expected three years ago, but got a three year stay of execution.

My wife's business is about to go the way of the telegraph and the analog TV signal.

The DMV issued her a memo informing her that beginning January they are implementing a new ONLINE service for all new car purchases that is FREE.

The reason she has registered over 36,000 vehicles over the past 9 years is because the DMV is so incompetent and the wait in line is usually over three hours long.

We knew this day was coming. We just thought it wouldn't come till mid 2009 or 2010. Over the past 6 months I have been training Shelly on my quickbooks system and she has now taken over most of the office work for me.

Now, with her help I can concentrate more on landing large accounts and hopefully replace her income quickly. I estimate that this online thing won't take fully for about 8 months so we have a little time to build up before then.

We're not interested in starting another business for her. She wants to work with me in this business.

Praise God for getting rid of this business to make way for mine to grow. Everytime we've had what looked like a devestating blow to come our way in the past, we've been able to look back and say, "if that bad thing hadn't happened, we'd still be doing things the old way and wouldn't have prospered as much as we have". This is just another one of those times.

Although I am sorry yer to go through such a stressfull thing I am also excited to hear of your opportunity.. I can't get mine to take a part in business and would luv it if it were so or rather if it were possable. See she's here to care for kids which she is very adept at. She is plenty busy and if we were to figure it all up based on job descriptions and who is best for doing what we would quikly see I would utterly fail at doing the whole kid thing.

See if she can work as a consultant to train the dealers how to use the new systems. They know her and she could make some money on the way out. Use her contacts with DMV to ge info on how the new system works and use the contacts at dealers to set up training for them. It is a graceful and slightly profitable wato ease out of the buisness.

That's a great idea. She's on the phone with the DMV right now to see if she can get in with them today. She wouldn't be limited to the dealerships she works with now, she could do this at all the dealerships.

Good Idea.

Hopefully your state will be as backwards as ours. It was well over one year before they worked MOST of the bugs out when they switched over a couple of years ago. May you give you time to figure out a way to re-position your service.
