we have a flat rate per store that way it is not confusing to their accounting , this size is this much , this many pumps is this much parking spaces cost this much ect..... itis more inviting and they dont have to check to match up a bunch of different prices , it will help your accounting as well , it all averages out they will take the good with the bad , make it easy and show up w/o giving them problems , thats what they wasnt , hassle free and dependable

Hi Steve

I have a feeling you are up near Dryden Ont. It would be hard for me to tell you how to price drive time. I would imagine that every thing up there involves a lot of travel. Russ is right about how to price pumps/parking/store fronts.... But your issue will be travel if I'm correct about where you are located. If you've done a location for him already, I'd then try talking to him about the travel time $$$ and feel him out.

Richard you are right but we price all the stuff the same I dont charge anymore for 150 than I do for accross town , normally a company will not send you 150 miles or more to do a job they will scheduls or you can schedule several at one time that saves you and them money and it makes thetrip worth your time

Russ, your absolutly right.
My only point is the distance between jobs. If Steve is in Oxdrift Ont. there is quite a distance between towns. It's not like what it is in the USA. We are bigger than you (LOL) and have 1/10th the population. The bulk of our population is in 5 areas/cities. You can drive for HOURS without seeing a town. Absoluty gorgeous, nothing but wilderness.

well so much for tues being the slowest day cause it sure was busy!dont know if it was the rain or 2 guys cleaning with a surface cleaner!! it was interesting and a good learning exp ! as far as travel goes my goal is to have 3 or 4 accounts and travel to each town/city and i have interest from 2 buisn. already almost making it worthwhile if i could get 2 more that would be the gravy!! and yes its wildernes here!its the bush 10,000people but many smaller and a few bigger towns within 2to 3 hours drive moose season is sat and we have lac suel the best walley fishing in the world! but 4 hours east and 4 hours west are 3 cities 3ooooo one is old stone and brick city ,very tall buildings very tall 90 ft!

Where you see travel time and long distance between locations, i see a great opportunity to clean up in these small towns. If these areas are as you speak there is probably little or no competition.

Give them a flat rate per location and fill in along the way. Heck there are some hotels that love to barter rooms with us for cleanings. I only wish we had a lack of companies down here to do the work, we are saturated and killing each other on pricing!!

If they want you to service all there locations that are spread out accross different city's, it's probably because it is hard to find anyone to do it, let alone do it right. I say take it and run with it, just put in the time to pick up everything you can in the different towns you work in, then you can make it a proffitable road trip.

im gonna "run with it" after doing the math it works out cause just a 4 hour drive away is over 30 stores! but im a little woried about being away and one of my regulars call! ive built the travel in to a unit price per store they seemed happy just waiting for approval! thanx to all that post steve
