Wal-Mart and Service channel

Is anyone here doing work for Wal-Mart and going thru Service Channel? This new way of working for Wal-Mart is a joke. If you dont know already, you have to check in and out every visit via your cell phone, by putting in your ivr number, month, day, hour, min, am or pm, client tracking number, or you are not going to get paid. So as a example, if you do parking lot sweeping for them, 7 days a week, you have to do this everyday you are on the job, 7 days a week you have to go to there web site, accept the work order, go to the job, check in then check out via IVR system and if you dont you will not be paid. You have to email service channel for every visit to accept the work order, or you wont get paid. Service channel will do your billing / invoice for you, they wont accept your invoice anymore. In my opinion, this is just another way for them to monitor your time on a job. So when they see how long it takes for you to do your job, they will prob come back and tell you that you are charging them to much and they will only want to pay you blank. As far as billing, I dont need them to do my billing, I still have to do my billing to them so they are in my computer that they owe money to me. So them doing my billing dosent save me a thing. And when and if we dont get paid and call in to find out where our money is, and they say they never got a bill for it, what then, you are not incharge of sending them a bill anymore, Service channel is. They have taken this from USM, all this IVR crap, They have even got prices that they want to pay you for the work based on what they pay in other areas. I forgot to add that you must do manditory online training thru You tube, that is a joke in itself, the videos you must watch and learn from race thru everything like you already know how the system works. So now you will have to spend extra time answering emails to them possibley every day depending what work you do and your schedule, having your people check in and out via IVR system and costing you more money, The management knows if you were there, if the parking lot isnt clean, there are gum spots and stains still on the walkway, the lawn wasnt mowed, then you didnt show up and they will call you and complain, If they arnt happy with your work, they will have to message Service channel, then service channel will message you, you respond to service channel, service channel responds to them your answer and so on. This is a joke, I dont think most of us need a BABY SITTER!!!!! OK I have rambeled enough, what are your thoughts??????

Stop working for Walmart seems like the best answer. But otherwise check in and out from when you leave your house. You are on the clock driving so might as well have the system reflect that

Yea I agree Charlie. We do the job we get paid. Anymore complicated than that my charge goes way up. No one, and I mean no one dictates our pricing. Big Brother looking over my shoulder?? Naw that's alright, too much money out there to put up with that.

I totally agree. Also if everyone teams up and doesnt work for them then they will most likely change there new system. I doubt everyone will agree to that but if you get the pro's to stop working for them they will be left with the hacks and then you will have them by the you know whats. I think you should phone in while your truck is warming up and then phone for the end time when you shut your truck off in the driveway. You should be charging travel if its not included in your price anyway. Hope all works out and you make some well deserved money out of them. Wal-mart's here are pretty hurting as well. I swear the stock boys draw straws to see who will run the store. I heard that they cant do pressure washing in house cause of a miss hap with an electric pw. I dont know if thats true or up here or down there but none the less good luck.

Im a salaried manager at Walmart and all this bs started with USM. They even have a price sheet for each store of what they want to pay and the prices are pathetic.

Corporations all are trying to reduce direct expenses any way possible in a effort to keep the folks on Wall Street happy. If you have not dealt with these type of companies they do dictate pricing in most cases. I have many years experience in dealing with these folks on the other side of this as a customer. From what I personally experienced with this type of company was they are only looking for the absolute lowest prices with no regard to quality. I have some good friends that I had made over the years that were reputable service contractors for us and they all said the same thing as they dropped the contracts, 1) I can't be profitable with the price they want us to accept. 2) Getting paid was a joke in most cases. 3) Territory's were shifted and made servicing more complicated. There will always be someone that will work for what the prices they offer to pay. Just my opinion.

I have seen many of these sheets.

These big corporations are all going to the dog's !! We did work for alot of these big corps at one time or another, and we just dealt with the manager or the district manager. I would not waste my time on these accounts, leave them to the hacks and let them get what they deserve.

some local stores here still hire from the area, I am a vendor for walmart and have been for several years but choose not to work for them

I got to say after the intial first few weeks in working out some kinks this has been going very well. Invoicing is a breeze and payments are made on time. The managers are able to pick their vendors and that is who you negiotate the pricing with.

We opted out doing work for them. Its funny we got a call last year from USM saying they will let us bid on as many Wallmarts as we wanted. I told them we are not interested and they were stunned we didnt need more work. DONT NEED the hassel for that little pay. We only have about 180 days to work in the north east so why would we bother filling our time cards with low paying jobs? DO IT YOUR SELVES We told them.

If they are letting you check in and out from your cell phone they are doing you a favor. We do KEC work for a large national chain that uses service channel and they require a check in- out call from the locations land line.

Here is another issue with service channel. The manager will get a email from service channle once the work is done he then says he approves the W/O from service channel ( that is when your invoice turns from yellow to red on service channel) Then the clock starts on getting paid for you since it is then considered "approved"
Well if the manager takes time off or say... goes to china on a mission trip for 7 weeks:shrug: your invoice just sits there and you don't get paid.

We are an approved vendor for wal-mart and I deal directly with either corp or my store managers .... no middle man any more thankfully!!!

Your welcome

haha it's funny we were one of 6 yes SIX snow removal companies USM sent to the local store and this year the mgr came back and said we want you to do our snow. Always makes you feel good to get compliments like that.

Yeah but USm would have never called and if you were not on that list Gm can't hire you.

Did you ever call cash office and request for invite?
