UAMCC Nominee List....Stay Tuned, It's Growing

Guy Blackmon

Roundtable Host 2009
Hello My PWI Friends! I've been asked to post up some of the goings on over at the UAMCC forum. I suggest that if you're not signed up for the UAMCC forum, get over there and sign up!

Biggest thing going on are the BOD elections. Looks like things are shaping up quite nicely, and the current list of Nominees are top notch.

This is a reprint of the thread over at the UAMCC. Any questions, post them up!

I'm very pleased to announce a few of the Nominees for Director seats here at the UAMCC. This list should grow as we continue through the week. Remember Nominations will close midnight December 16 2011.

If you are seeking Nomination or Nominating someone else (or have any questions) please contact me (guy@pressurekleen.net) so we can go over a few details. Thanks!

Remember, you must be a Member in good standing and Membership dues current to be a nominee or vote in the election.

Like I said, stay tuned, this list of candidates will be growing!

Tony, you got my vote

Yea Tony all the way!! Tony's the man!! Ron and Tony as Board of Directors....WOW I'm glad I paid.. For front row seats right on the net. I'd like to recommend Tony to Chair the Oversight Committee. Nothings going to get past Tony... He should be the head org. Cop.. Funny how these things work out.

I'll post this here. Somebody can cut and paste it over on the UAMCC board if they want to.

I'm not campaigning. I'm stating where I stand because I only want to serve if the members want me to serve.

I am Tony Shelton, one of the owners of Sonitx based in Las Vegas, NV.

I believe in God. I believe he put us here for a reason and I believe in searching out that reason, completing it to the best of my ability and then returning home to live with him. I believe he put us here ideally to help each other make it through our brief stay here.

I believe in individual responsibility and very limited government involvement in our lives and our businesses.

I believe in hard work and well deserved rest and recreation.

I do not believe we should be working towards licensing our profession. Licensing hasn’t improved the quality of work in the HVAC or Automotive repair industry one IOTA and it won’t improve ours either. In the end licensing will just be a revenue generation source for the government.

I believe the answer to “low ballers” is to dig in and keep our nose to the grindstone. There’s a reason Hyundai is still around and charging prices close to Toyota now and YUGO is gone. YUGO was a lowballer. Hyundai dug in for the long haul and continuously did a good job for a fair price and continued to improve!! Meanwhile the ones who relied on the government are bankrupt (i.e. Chevy) If we improve ourselves and keep trudging along we will outlast them without selling our souls to the devil with more regulations.

I believe that we need to endeavor to continue to improve our services and continue to price competitively. This is a new economy. The old ways of thought don’t work in this economy. I will push for the UAMCC to show contractors how to be more cost effective as a means to increase income.

I do not believe we should be trying to make GENERAL rules or BMP’s across the board for all contractors in all areas. On the contrary I believe most if not all of our money should be spent changing the minds of those in government to understand that we are the solution and not the problem.

I believe in service. Logo rent and lots of “bennies” are fine for regular members. But I believe the job of a BOD is to serve. I believe that service should be brief, concentrated and effective. One can only give their all for short periods of time. Everyone needs to take a break after a term or two. Maybe even a permanent break.

During times of service I don’t believe BOD’s have any business advertising as such. I know this goes against the grain, but it’s just my own personal belief. I don’t have anything against anybody who does advertise it.

I don’t believe any BOD who quits should claim “former BOD” on their advertisements. They should change it to “current Quitter” till their term is up, then never mention it again..

I am a current quitter of the UAMCC forum. When I thought the BOD was doing nothing about negotiating ownership of its corporation and demanding it’s donated URL I washed my hands of it and quit the forum. I thought the UAMCC was extinct at that time. That may have been a mistake. We’ll see how the URL turns out. But either way, that makes me a quitter. I will commit to never do that again.

I believe a man who cheats on his wife will cheat on his business partner. And his org members. If you are one of those guys, I don’t like you and I won’t trust you, Even if you are sitting next to me at a board meeting. There’s another org that would love to have you.

I believe we need good manufacturers and distributors. They provide the building blocks for our businesses. They should make money for their efforts for sure. I believe they also should concentrate on fair pricing and improving quality and service. I am in full support of these types of vendors and manufacturers and enjoy working side by side with them.

BUT IF they are caught digging in the cookie jar of lobbying for restrictions in our industry in a way designed to increase their sales I believe they should be marked and avoided till they go out of business. If they want to work with the government so bad they need to go get a job at the DMV.

I’m not a phone yakker, life is too short. But if I’m not in the middle of something I’ll be glad to talk with anyone and listen to any opposing positions and consider any alternatives.

I believe in open meetings. I believe the BOD meetings should be open and broadcast to all paid members if possible. While two way interaction isn’t possible all the time I am for member input sessions at board meetings and resorting to private executive sessions only for personnel, strategy or other sensitive issues.

Personality wise, I’m not politically correct. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. I’ve been known to change my stance when proven wrong. I’m a reader. Once I get on a subject I will latch on like a pitbull till there’s not much left for me to learn.

I don’t believe in lying except in war and we aren’t in any wars right here. Again, I’m not perfect and if anything I say ever looks like a lie call me on it right away and keep me on track.

If you aren’t in agreement with any of my positions please don’t vote for me. These are my positions and unless I’m proven wrong on some of these issues I will serve towards the goals of those positions as a UAMCC BOD. I won’t win my way on all of them and I won’t cry when I lose.

If you don’t agree with that stances there are about 9 other fine guys running for the at-large positions that might better represent your interests.

If you find yourself like most, where you agree with some of my stances and disagree with some, then please balance them out and decide if you think I should have your vote.

If I am elected serve proudly, try to use my time wisely and do my best. If I’m not elected I’ll make more money next year.

Either way I win.

Thanks,

Tony Shelton

Ok Tony. Here are some questions I have for ya.. There's alot.. Here we go... Where's my sheet of paper.. Ah never mind. Here' s my View on things in life now. If you think you can make a difference or help make a difference then just go for it. Don't let nothing stop you. If your right keep fighting, but if the cost is to high because you have a lovely family some fights are just not worth it.. If you can keep a proper balance where family life is good then serve to the best of your abilities. Stay on track where bylaws are concerned because they are the golden rules in 501c3's. They are the constitution of these type orgs. Amend them where they need to be amended but do it the right way as per bylaws state.
Bylaws are really easy or at least they should be made easy enough so there are no problems. This is where rules work..it keeps people honest. No one person can be the end all In these group structures. There is no.. The buck stops here because I am the man as it does with our own business.
You have some good idea's and because you may end up in the board room you can make a difference. If your voted down at least you tried... But there's another time and another day where maybe another one of your idea's or someone else's that you supported...works. That is the number reason why I ever liked to be a Board Member. It's being there where the idea's are express forth... And no matter what anyone tells you or you may have thought yourself like many do on the outside but if you get in those people in there are special. No better then anyone else but there special... And that is because they want to make a difference. And if you guys succeed us members benefit. And Money is a great benefit and if my logo now has some type of recognition to it and I Market it as I do now and it helps me get work.. There's a huge Benny right there... And when that happens it's because successful BOD'S made that happen And that is what the beauty of being a BOD really is... You guys made this happen.... And you'll become more successful yourself in more ways then one.. And besides what some tell you because Money is extremely important in business but money can't buy you honesty for doing a good job that someone benefitted because of your hard work and they thank you for it.

This system works. It's been proven... But like this countries constitution which is the greatest document in the world.. They do work. When the Gov't or the people sway from them to much that's probably where you are seeing the problems all around you where you live and many other places across the country. People can burn the American flag with no recourse.

In the 501c3's study the constitution which is the bylaws. It'll take you a couple of hours at most. Get your other BOD'S to do the same.... And stay true to the course.... And watch how this grows... Not rocket science... But for whatever reason time and time again orgs in this industry sway away from there constitution and look Tony what happens to this country when we do that..... I think you may see this more then most regardless what idea's you bring forth.

It's about the constitution. Your argument always on the net. Now you have a chance to get in an org... And follow there constitution and even help amend the orgs constitution if need be. Which is why I think you can do well on the oversight committee also.

You get the Constitution working in this country.. Well that's how it works in very successful non profits.. And because of those two factors and cracks/jokes aside I think you can make a very good Director.

Good Luck.

What are you complaining for Jeff?

I hope you feel proud.

Go ahead and reel me in. You earned it.

When you're done with me you can mount me on the wall.

Tony, I am in no way complaining or reeling you in. I want the UAMCC to succeed, at times these past couple years I just wanted it to fold. Now I see renewed possibilities for it. See a great list of nominees and YOU Tony can be a huge asset. You have skills brother. I like how you can research issues, you listen, you're honest, ya you have been a major PITA at times, but you are smart. The UAMCC needs smart people leading it.
Tony my only suggestions is keep your passion in check some, this is a business emotions have to be held back some. You start to lose it, it doesnt help. Fellow BOD members and members may not always agree with you, some might piss you off deal with it professionally brother. Work within the system all you BOD members are going to build.
I hope you guys do great. Heck ya if you go nuts, F up bad or quit quick, ya I will have some fun with you, OK I might try to crucify you LOL.

I think I have only one disappointment in the past 5-10 years and that is that my time on the Trans Team didnt go better for the industry so if now the UAMCC can help our great industry, bring it to all our customers, fight ridiculous regs and help put money in our pockets I say GREAT. So I'm not wanting you on the BOD to fail, I want you to be on it to do a good frickin job and move it forward.

Good luck, you got my vote.
