The Grease Monster!!!

Great picture. how long did it take to get that clean? I bet there was a lot of scraping done. I am not sure, but I think they call that montser the BLOB. Nothing can stop it

Matt when was the last time the bad boy was cleaned before you cleaned it?

Some time ago we picked up a local college, 2 cooking hoods and 4 prep hoods. My helper & I looked at the first hood, a Gaylord water wash with a 2 inch drain. The first thing in was the chemical sprayer. every load in I used the chemical sprayer as a pre-treatment. We cleaned the hood, duct and fan. We plugged up the 2 inch drain at least 3 times. After we were done with the hood and ready to move on to the next one, I put my hand inside to feel for any more grease. I got a glob of grrease larger than my fist! I showed it to Matt, and said we should have used more degreaser on the hood. That is when he told me he had pre-treated the hood each time he had carried stuff into the kitchen. We figured we had sprayed chemical into the hood at least 5 times, each, into the hood. The time on the job was 18 hours, over 2 nights. We now can do the job in less than 6 hours.

Another job had a 3 story duct. At that time I did not have a spinner nozzle and just dropped a tee with nozzles into the duct. Set up included driving the van down the alley and making a left turn, backwards. The largest chunk of grease that fell 3 stories and landed on the grille intact was 6 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick.

We cleaned a chinese hood prior to installing a fire system. When I say we did the hood, that is all we did was the hood. It took 2 of us from 10:00 PM until 3;00 AM, a total of 5 hours. We also killed 7 cockroaches. We did not charge for killing the bugs. The next nite we did the fire system install. I told my technitions that whe ever found the most cockroaches got a free dinner. we only found 4 cockroaches, and no one wanted a free dinner.

Last week we did a hood. Very light grease, even did the fan and duct without waiting for the water to get hot. I then went inside to do the hood. Cleaned the hood and the drains were not draining properly because of the dust and dirt plugging the holes. At least the hole I was poking my finger in was plugged with dirt. My helper said the hole on his end of the hood looked like it was plugged with fuzzy stuff. Rat fur looks fuzzy when it is wet. Yeah, a dead rat was in the grease trap. My helper fished it out. I would have left it where it was.
