I am getting ready to set up a shurflo sprayer and need some advice. I have done a search here and on powerwash network and got some good ideas. I want to set it up like Glenn at Ace Pressure washing has his, on a dolly so I can change 5 gal buckets instead of 15 or 25 gal tanks. Also someone was putting on a 45 psi and a 60 psi pump on the cart to spray cleanen and sealer, another good idea. My question is has anyone ever used a lawn mower battery to cut down on the weight? Do you think the battery would last very long on a charge and how many charges would it take till it died?

Why not get a Automotive Jumper box they sell at the auto store it has a built in charger and a Gell Cell battery that won't leak on you.

You might want to set up your sureflo using an old lawnmower with the motor removed, instead of a dolly. I mounted my sureflo pump and switch on the handle and placed a piece of plywood where the motor was. This is big enough to hold two five gal. buckets and a 12 V. Marine battery. Works great and you have 4 wheels instead of 2 to keep from tipping. Good Luck, Scott

I use a small motorcycle battery. Take your pump to a motorcycle store so you can match amps and volts. I just designed my own sprayer. At home depot they have black dollies for 15 bucks. They hold the 5 gal perfect. I drilled holes on the sides and bolted on brackets. These brackets hold the box with batterie and pump. Or you can mount a pump on the side. I hooked up a small piece of PVC pipe for a wand holder. I use quick connects so I can disasemble everything for easy storage and transport. Also, I hooked up a valve to controll spray on the wand.

Depends on how thick. I havn't had a problem yet. They're work horses. Test out a small amount. How are you thickening your solutions. I'm looking into possibilities.

Bryan, Have you ever thought about using a foaming agent to your cleaner, it would help with the cling.

Better yet, there is a chemical out there that is made especially for thickening. It is called methylcellulose. Go to www.chemistrystore.com and check it out. They also carry products to produce foam, like Steve mentioned.

I was looking at that stuff. I need to call them because if you read about it, it has to be added to a solution with proper ph levels. Not sure if it could be added to everything but i'll check up on it and let you know.

Tony, By the information on the site you mentioned it looks like that product was designed for health care products. Have you tried them? If so please tell me more about them, we are always doing research on new ideas.

I have not used methylcellulose yet. It was something I came across while looking at other chemicals. While the site mentions that a neutral ph is needed, maybe that is just for optimum performance, like in shampoo, or shaving cream.
I just thought I'd mention it, and if somebody was really interested, they could do their own research.

If you had ever tried to cleaned 6 months old baked on grease from a duct you would know why dawn would not work.
I have tried many things to make the chemical cling, but the bottom lines is the bottom line!!!!!!! I can get a gell additive but it cost more than the chemical. It doesn't get any cheaper than corn starch and it works just as well.
I also need to be able to spray it on to be able to reach areas that need to be cleaned. I can make a sprayer powered by an air compressor, but I need a container that is rust proof and strong enough to be pressurized to about 125psi. have you ever went looking for such a thing, wow people look at you like you are crazy.

I am reviving this thread because I found out that one of those battery jump starters will not work for a shurflo a setup. I tried it on a new pump and it worked for a while and then it fried the pump. The motor would run but the pump would not pump, I had to go and buy a new pump to get it working. I hope I can save someone else the same problem
wouldnt it be easier to just ask Glenn to sell you one of his?
