I got the call while in Vegas to do a quick flatwork cleaning (one of my normal accounts, so I didn't mind) as soon as I got in to have the place looking extra good for some vip's.
After pulling up at 12:30 I told the manager that I have a good working relationship with about my newly acquired skills in the a/c filter & coil cleaning field. She was happy to have someone she could trust & call anytime. She told me what they paid to have paper filters installed monthly and wanted me to take a look at what they had. After doing the flatwork, I scoped out 2 new Carrier units. I popped the panel on one and saw 4 paper filters stuffed in with a 2" gap in between 2 of them. I grab one to pull it out & the alarm starts in. Good thing crewmembers were inside scrubbing things down.
She just laughed it off knowing how embarrased it made me, and told me to she wanted to talk to her bosses that were gonna be in today about doing a 2 month filter service for stores in the mid-state area.
I explained to her that the price I qouted her was low because I am already there doing the flatwork so I don't have to charge for travel time, so the only way to get the best savings for the other stores was a package deal for both services.
Proof that the more you know, the more you're worth. Cha-ching, all thanks to Tony!
