I will be upgrading my unit and will be spending big bucks for equipment... When I went for couplers I had priced locally and then I had looked at the new All American s.s. couplers from envirospec and they were 10 times cheaper than locally...

Has any one tried these "NEW" s.s. coupler, for two to three dollars apiece thats a good deal, But if people has had problems with them, I will pay the 13 dollars locally for less problems...
I did a search on board came up with vary little info on couplers, Alot about envirospec, We will leave this one alone.

Thanks again Guys and Gals,

Matt

i use

HF acid and high heat. The coupler that gets the acid the most and the highest heat has broken on me and i dont use them there any more.
HF eat's metal for lunch so i dont blame the coupler.
Every where else ive used them they are fine and I like them.
Be very specific with part #'s when you call.
I have heard people that have bad times with E-spec but i have never had a problem with my order. I did'nt all ways liked what i ordered, but it was what i ordered.
There is a lot of info on a post on www.thecleanernetwork.com about this exsact question.

I bought a bunch of s.s couplers and plugs fron espec and haven't had much problem. I did have one plug that had a pin hole in it around the seam. What I would do is buy a little more then what you need incase some are bad. Even if you do this they are way cheaper then buying local. I went to buy a s.s. coupler locally and they wanted $26 a piece. Epecs is a little lower quailty but yoiu can't beat the price. The ones locally are Parker and they are very good. I wish I had the money to buy all Parker but it would cost me 8 times as much. I like espec and had only minor problems. I have bought about $2500 worth of stuff from them and very little problems. You are going to have minor problems with just about anyone though.

I bought some stainless steel couplers from envirospec at the beginning of this year...........they are working fine but I can tell they will not outlast the last set I bought.

The previous set I paid alot more money for, but the quality is really there...............they are so good, that after being on hoses for almost two years, when I threw out the hoses, I removed the couplers and installed them on another hose.............still using them today.....

On my two cold water washers, the e*spec couplers are performing fine after three years. The cold water washers are rolled out to the job, and are mainly used residentially. They usually drag on the grass, which doesn't tear up brass or ss. No chems on or in them, and low temperatures.

On my hot water washer the e*spec couplers got beat up pretty quickly, but then so did some others I used. This rig only sees commercial jobs, flatwashing, and occasional truck washing. So 150 feet of hose is being dragged all over concrete and gravel, exposed to akaline and acid solutions, and running at 190 degrees.

My point is that some environments are harsher,
which contributes to coupler failures more than anything else. They all seem to work nice and smooth when new. On the hot water rig, the name brand couplers seem to be a little more resistant to minor physical damage, and seem to last longer, and provide smoother operation than the cheaper ones. Maybe they are made of a harder metal, or are machined to a better finish and tolerance.

On the cold water rigs, the cheaper couplers have performed just fine. I've got a few at 3 years old, and still seal and operate smoothly. I see no reason to replace them with more expensive couplers.

These have been my observations.

Mike, who manufactured the other SS couplings you used?

My experience is that SS from ESpec don't really outlast GOOD brass - I work in really crappy environments, so nothing lasts too long.

Steven, coincidently I have some twist couplers and plugs coming my way to try.

Mike, thanks for the site - looks like Hanson couplers. Recently tried some brass hanson couplers. Did not perform as well as breco. I'll buy some SS hansons and see how they work.

Based on earlier thread on another board, I'd like to try some Adams brass (now maybe SS too).
