Roof cleaning tarps

JL Pressure Washing
I have 8 large 3 story buildings where I will be doing the roofs. The buildings have NO gutters, not much of a pitch. They are long 150-200. What is the best to cover the ton of shrubs they have on the ground

I want to cover shrubs 100%. CLEAR PLASTIC sheeting, if I put that over the shrubs, will the heat being contained under the clear plastic, suck the life out of the top of the shrubs and brown the shrubs out?

What about Blue tarps? is that better or worse? Problem with blue tarps it will cost me a arm and a leg, for all the tarps I will be needing. I figure having at least two guys washing maybe three up on the roofs and 2 o3 guys on ground spraying water and moving tarps

I rather use plastic sheeting, it will be much cheaper, but years ago I painted a house and left plastic sheeting on shrubs during a hot day for like 5-7 hours and it sucked the life out of the top of the shrubs

What do you roof cleaning guys use?
Thank you

I use mostly blue tarps and clear plastic the trick is as soon as the mix stops dripping off the roof. remove the plastic and water well to cool the plants down and to delute the mix.

Jeff you will probably move faster with one guy on the roof spraying and two guys moving tarps and watering plants. blue tarps are your best bet water before, during and after. Move the tarps as soon as the roofs quit dripping so the plants aren't covered to long. water water water.

Northern or Harbour frieght. You only need a couple you need to keep them moving.

Thats the best way to do it. IF we have anything that needs covering I try not to leave it on for more that 45-60 min especially if it's in the direct sunlight. Don't forget to water, water and then wayer some more. I have a big Commercial Roof Cleaning job that we are doing this weekend and I'm even covering the grass to catch the runnoff. ( no Gutters.) This place has very nice landcaping and green, green grass. I don't need to be getting a phone call to replace ANYTHING!!!

Do you all rinse your roofs? or leave it on?

I dont rinse. Thats mother natures job and I don't even have to pay her. Jeff have you learned nothing from these boards??? Please use the search button. :drag:

Heck I never thought I would get into large scale roof cleaning, never read the roof threads much

Whats a search button:shrug:

what if theres a light rain just hours later, enough to get the string 12% running off onto leafy shrubs, then the bleach just cooks on there...no?

This is where prayer comes in handy. I believe there is a whole thread on here about prayer. Type the word, PRAYER into the search box above.

I thought I was the only person who prayed against these afternoon showers.

Jeff, the clear painters plastic should be fine. just dont leave them on any longer than you have to. The runoff and dripping shouldnt last for more than 5-10 minutes tops and you can move them. Make sure your guys spray from the bottom up so that by the time they stop spraying that section the tarps are ready to be moved.

Call Lori at Pressure Washer Products and get some of the Hang Tite (Amonyx Lo), it has made a HUGE difference on how fast I can work, how much runs off the roof and how fast the overall job speed is.

This is one of the best chemicals I have found for doing a better job faster.

They also have the apple scent to make the place smell great when you are done, you mix it with your roof cleaning mix and it does not fight with or weaken your roof cleaning mix.

Thanks, someone else mentioned this product to me too

I ordered some more of the amonyx lo earlier. Really is great stuff. I have a 60 gallon tank for my roof mix. With dawn it would take 2 mixes to clean an average house and with the LO its down to 1 mix. Sometimes a touch more.

I asked about ordering the amonyx M but evidently there having some kind of problem with it. Also ordered the fragrance as well. We'll see how we like it.
