Pool Shock

I have done a search or two in this forum under POOL SHOCK and liquid POOL SHOCK. Is this doable for cleaning vinyl siding and roofs? I live about a .25 mile from a Great Escape and they sell liquid pool shock @ $11/cs = 4/gal. Looking on the label it states active ingredient sodium hypochlorite at 12.5 %. Is it OK to use this? Trying to locate a supplier that is perferably local. Peoria, IL not exactly a mecca of in-ground or above ground pools for that matter.

Yes liquid. 12.5% sodium hypochlorite is what you want. The powder calcium hypo needs to stay in the pool not for washing houses. You will also need to add a surfactant and detergent. Simple Cherry from Pressure Tec is widely used and gives great results around glass.

Red, that's about the same price around here, actually 13.47 and it's 10%, it's retail, but Florida is much cheaper because they sell it at just about every corner.

I get 10% Liquid Pool Shock delivered at $1.75 a gallon.

Considering I get 10 gals of 10.5% SH for $12, that doesn't seem to be a bargain. Or is 12.5% worth that much more?

You are I am guessing in a competitive market seeing all the pools you have. Up this way not too many folks have pools so the local retail outlets that sell this product and I think there are only 3 in this area demand higher prices. Yep, you got the better end of this stick...

No, and it is probably the same.

The bottled pool shock off the shelf is not near as fresh as you'd like. I'd suggest talking to the store and see about getting a better deal by buying 5 or 10 cases at a time. You could save money and maybe convince them to order some fresher stuff for you.

Is it possible or feasible to generate your own chlorine?

It is done all the time here in Tampa, for swimming pools, but the amounts we need for roof cleaning would take much larger units Tony.

It's hotter than a firecracker here

Tony simple cherry an roof snot are two different animals.Roof snot is a surfactant that belongs to the arimine family.Simply cherry isn't meant to be used as a surfactant only.
