non-pressure cleaners

Some people may think softwashing means turning down the psi on a p/w. Softwashing houses and roofs does not include the use of a pressure washer. We do use high-flow pressure washers for flatwork. Our process uses chem solutions and high-flow pumps only capable of building 150psi.
Hey Tim, just havin sum fun!

I have cleaned a few houses with just a chem pump and sum garden hose.
What do you, or anyone else think about have one hose that is really 2 hoses ?

One of the two hoses could be hooked to a chem pump, the other to a high flow rinse pump.

You first hit the side of the house with chem, wait, and walk back and pull the rinse trigger, and voila ?

You could even get real creative and put some chem neutralizer in rinse water solution, along with just a LITTLE Borax.

The Borax of course is a biostat to keep it clean longer.

Can dual hose be purchased ?

Some welding hose is doubled.

Chris, I think the problem would be lugging around 2 hoses. We use the same hose to apply and rinse. I did some tests think weekend I think you would be interested in. I tested my pumps output using 200' of 3/8", 1/2", & 5/8. I used my flowmeter/psi gauge and I will publish the results soon.

Our blasters are 1 1/2" hoses, with 1/4" twinline attached. "Twinline" is the word to use if you want to look for hose that is "rubbered" together. The twinline isn't heavy, but the inchandahalf sure is.

Yes Tim, I would be interested, very interested.
The flow calculator predicts bith pressure and flow increases as hose diameter is increased, and my real world testing bears that out.

My testing methods are simply, "Gee, this is way faster or slower" then the comparative hose.

I have never actually measured flow, just kinda went on a seat of the pants feeling of how good my rig sprays.

Scott {Squirtgun} picked up on what I was asking about.

I would like to know if any hose is availiable in a double configuration >

IOW, TWO hoses combined into "one" ?

Hey, wait a minute, there IS such an animal!

Welding Gas hose like on an acetlyne torch ?

Acetlyne torch hose carries two gasses, right .....

Oh shoot, I am brainstorming here ...

Why not feed a vari flow system with two pumps, and do final mixing down at the nozzle end, with a dual hose setup ?

One could get up on roof, adjust mixture, clean roof, then, get down, reduce chlorine, increrase water, spray, wait, shut off chlorine, and rinse!

Total Chemical control ?

All we need down at the end of the dual hose is what ????

You must need the flow of an 1 1/2 inch hose ?

What about just house cleaning John ?

I would think two 1/2 inch hoses in combo would do fine ?

No He didn't! Chris, calm down He's kidding (I hope).
THAD is always kidding, but he is on the right track.

What we need at the end of the dual hose is a chemically resistant valving system going into some kind of wand or spray gun.

Picture an Acetlyne Torch ?
It has two valves to adjust the gas/oxygen ratio.

If we could have something like that to adjust both the chem and water/pressure feeds, it might be interesting ?

Welding hose is 1/4 " ID. Temperature rating is -20 to +200 F. Max. Rec. WP is 200. That is the pressure rating, I have no idea what it means. The main problem would be the 1/4 " ID. You would have very little flow. Another problem would be the hose ends have an odd size/thread. Of course you could use barb hose ends and clamp. The easiest way to get a double hose would be to duct tape 2 of the 25 or 50 foot hoses together. If double hoses do not work, you would have only invested a little time and duct tape.

Thanks Doug!

I was just brainstorming, thinkin about how nice it would possibly be to have both chem and water/pressure availiable in a one wand setup with dual hoses ?

Just a roof cleaner here, never really got into cleanin houses, thinkin about it ?

Gotta be fast here in Tampa, people workin cheap!

In your opinion what is fastest way clean houses ??

depends on the type

At oru office building the landlord ask me a while back about cleaning the roof.. I told him I couldn't get to it . We were real busy with hood cleanings and concrete cleanings at the time..Anyway these guys cam out in a truck with a water tank in the bed and a SureFlo pump mounted on the tailgate. They went open on the roof with what appeared to be store bought bleach in pump up sprayers . Then they rolled out aout 150 ft of 1/4 inch hose with a nice wand at the end went on the roof and started washing .. All i got to say is they made a big mess . I did not know it at the time but the roof in our back office had started to leak and now I have these big stains over my desk..The shingles did come clean though and the outside of the building looks much more clean than it used to..I got to thinking this spring and summer about setting up a roof cleaning outfit and letting my brother in law run it.. We have an old 1 ton van and a 200 gallon water tank , I got a older pressure washer that I think I Can Modify to work .. If we do this I think we can do a better job than the guys that cleaned our office building . I do think we will consider a wavier form dealing with roof leaks though.. Just a thought .. Heck we clean everything else in Mississippi why not work our way up to the roof......

Just a thought. If your looking for a spray wand that will mix two liquids at the head, check out this wand. It comes with heavy duty case hard steal tips which come in varied sizes up to half inch. Could also check for brass. You would probably have to drill out the air holes to a larger size. The spray head is cast alluminum. http://drywalltools.com/Kodiak_Pole_Gun.php

I have talked to quite a few folks and even set up the blue van with a small pressure washer .. I was going to use the one that just got recently stolen but now oh well.. I have a little honda that is 1600 psi @3 gpm .. This should work fine .. Most people in Mississippi say then when it's time to get there roof clean they just have it reshingled... Oh well .. I did manage to get my brother in law 2 accounts ... 1) is a cookie plant in gluckstadt with a rubber roof.. and on is a mini mall in ridgeland... So it's a start .. Now we have B&R Fire, B&R Service Plus, B&R Steam Cleaning, and B&R Roof Wash... WOW..
The stuff I used to clean white rubber roofs with was purple degreaser and then I Cleaned a roof that was metal and had some rust on it and I used Lime-A-Way it actually took most of the rust off..I also have a couple of restaurants that I Clean that they ask me to wash thier shingled roofs in which case I use the purple degreaser and some time dawn just by itself... I usually tell customers I Clean everything but the one thing I can actually make good money at is vent hood cleaning.. On an average I get $200 to $ 300 for Concrete about $100 to clean gutters, Roofs $200 for the only 4 I have Cleaned .. But Vent Hoods I average $400 to $900 a night depending on how NASTY they are....... I Can't believe it's Monday.. I need a Nap !!

When I first started, I did not use a machine at all. It took longer, but it worked. (I still have many customers from 6 and seven years ago.)

I have found that 4 to 5 gpm is about the limit for downstream washing. As the volume goes up (my rig is 8gpm) the force exerted on the surface also goes up, thus causing some of the problems of higher-pressure washing. I have also found that 120* water makes a big difference. I've tried it cold for a few years and now hot, and 99% of the time, I use hot. (Also, the heat works better for applying the wax. I include a hot wax rinse for each home.)

John,

Do you add the wax to your house wash mix or do you rinse with the wax as a final step? How much do you use. I've purchased some from sunbrite, but I'm not sure how I should dilute it.

Thanks,
