Need to upgrade from machine, but to what?

I have a 3,600PSI 13HP 4GPM machine now and it just doesn't cut it. Everything still takes waaaay to long to complete.
I have my eye on a 3500PSI 18HP 5.6GPM machine but I was wondering if it will make that much of a noticable difference?
Just going up 1.6GPM.

Or should I look at something over 6GPM?

Yes, it is a big difference. Try a 5 - 6 gpm machine and you'll never want to go back. Over 6 would probably be overkill for you.

Make sure you get a machine with a big gas tank......at least ten gallons. It is sometimes optional equipment.

The formula for impact force is...

(Flow X Square root of Pressure) / 18.92

Therefore your current machine has an impact force of...

(4 X Square root of 3,600) / 18.92 = 12.68#

Moving to your new unit...

(5.6 X Square root of 3,600) / 18.92 = 17.76# or ~40% more impact force.

This makes sense because you are moving from 4 to 5.6 GPM or 40% more flow. This should reduce your work time and therefore increase your gross margin.

BUT, be certain you have a water supply greater than 7 GPM to ensure enough supply to prevent cavitation. AND, make certain of the collection and disposal rules for your area.

Cheers.
