More genius from La La land

Now L.A. is talking about requiring new homes and businesses to be fitted with reclaim equipment on rooftops to use rainwater.

The claim that it will keep 104 million gallons of runoff water from going into the ocean per year.

Now, just for curiosity sake, how much is that? I've done the math and I'll tell you. 104 million gallons is how much it would take to fill the insides of 3 Sams Clubs.

Take a close look below. Use a microscope and find three buildings the size of Sam's club. Imagine the horror of that amount of roof runoff water entering that SMALL BODY OF WATER CALLED THE PACIFIC OCEAN!!!!!!!

IS THERE NO END TO THE GOVERNMENTS STUPID INTERFERENCE IN PEOPLE'S LIVES??????

WAKE UP!!!!!

i see nothing wrong with the plan...I think they should take it furthure though..think about it runoff from the roofs in only a small portion..they need to addres all the runoff from the ocean shore thats billions and billions of gallons that we need to be spending are money on to reclaim and filter. lol

It's only $13 a gallon for violations reduced from $20!

The Left Coast is out of control.

These nuts are just trying to justify their existence like most govt agencies.

In Las Vegas, a city of approaching 2 million people there are only so many crews pressure washing on any given day. The largest company has about 30 trucks.

For argument's sake (and the distributors here know this is WAY overestimating) lets say there are 100 crews cleaning on any given night.

At an average of 6gpm the average crew can work 6 hrs using a total of 2160 gallons per night each.

Thats 21,600 gallons per night.

If they all worked 7 days per week and used zero reclaim that would be 7.8 million gallons per year of water used.

Not even half of that would make it past the parking lots (This isn't conjecture, this is a fact, in Las Vegas evaporation takes as much as 90% or more of the runoff before it even gets to the street.) So lets round it off to an even 5 million that could possibly make it into the storm sewer over the period of a year.

How much is that? It won't even fill up three of the largest hotel swimming pools IN AN ENTIRE YEAR!

How much can that affect the environment? You decide, here's Lake Mead, where our drinking water comes from. Find three large hotel swimming pools (if you can) and see what a SPECK that is in the lake!

And the other thing question we are forgetting to ask is "What percentage of the runoff is DIRT and how much is water?" Most of our time is spent RINSING. Is there any doubt that in 5 million gallons of water there's probably less than 10,000 gallons of sludge? IN AN ENTIRE YEAR!!!!

My heart aches for what California is becoming. In the old days everyone used to do some "California dreamin" not anymore. sad.

Brad, how long has it been since you've been there? Sad is not even enough of a word to describe it. In the past 5 years we've been to LA numerous times. The roads are horrible, the traffic is terrible. Areas are dirty and not being kept up. Hollywood is dirtier than ever. (I'm not saying Las Vegas is any better) I'm just saying that Southern California USED to be a LOT better. Sad is not enough of a word to describe it.

What I can't understand is morons like Obama who want to use California as an EXAMPLE for us to follow!!!!

It's crazy!!

Tony, Its been a couple of years since I have been in LA. Growing up out on the farm, I along with most everyone else wished they could end up in California. When I got there, it wasn't what I imagined. If I wanted to see busted up streets and sidewalks I could have stayed home instead of visiting Hollywood.
