Mirror Replacement

Mike Hughes

The mirrors on my box truck need to be replaced, both driver and passenger sides.

Where would be the best source for them? They have two mirrors per side, one above the other........you know the type.

Try a Big Truck dealer, or sometimes a truck stop. OF course, you could always try Pep Boys or Autozone.

Good suggestions.. also try Northern (Formerly Northern Tool) or Tractor Supply, or a local camper/motor home dealer.
If no Northern or Tractor Supply in your area, I know that Northern has a website and I'm pretty sure that Tractor Supply does too.

Hope this helps,

Cujo

Another source, RV dealerships have different mirrors also.

If there is Camping World near you try them too.

Wrecking yards or recyled auto yards are another source.

There are also places that deal in truck parts only from wrecked trucks, you might find something better.

One on top the other, not sure what you mean by that Mike unless someone added wide angle mirrors below the stock ones.

Also would help if you did not drive so close to the other vehicle your mirrors clip theirs:D

Take a look around, most box trucks around here have two mirrors on each side, one above the other. Top mirror is normal, bottom is for your blind spot.

we have been hearing alot about this box truck lately, must be the best thing since sliced bread.i think i will look into it. good luck.

Well, they're not for everyone.............but up north, enlcosed is the way to go, and if you have employees, as I do, you don't want them pulling large trailers around............can only lead to trouble.

I was sealing a deck the other day and watched the guy's lawn service back a trailer right over a small tree............just confirms my thoughts on this matter.

Mike, to get them cheap take a ride down to south west Philly where all the junk yards are, it's near the auto mall. It's on Passyunk ave. There are a lot of yards there and all you have to do is go to one, tell them what you need then if they don't have it they go over a radio system attached to all the yards and ask who has it, then they tell you where to go.

i have been looking at a box truck since seeing your posts and they are tempting,i like the pull down ramp that is on the truck.
very useful for getting dollies in and out. plus the lock on the back door definately increases security. what size water tank do you have?

the tank is only 275, but I think that's enough.........i currently have a 325 gallon tank on my trailer.

Hey Mike, lets see some pictures.....

No pics yet. Its Jon Fife's old truck..........I flew down to Tennessee last week and drove it home.

I'll be sure to photo document this experience.

The truck is in the shop right now getting its state inspection (PA is pretty tough on inspections, where some states don't have any at all).

The mechanic is taking care of the mirrors for me.

Stopped by the mechanics shop on the way home today (got home after he's closed). I think my truck is done now.

The mirrors look great............he replaced all of them, but used the same mounts. Now the question is, how much $$$ did that all cost............... :) I'll find out tomorrow.
