Magnetic Scraper Pictures

Here are some pics we took while trying out the magnetic scraper. The first one is the scraper working and the 2nd one shows the difference between how well the magnetic and a conventional scraper work (white is magnetic, red is conventional). The magnetic does work better and scrape more grease off but it takes about twice as long to cover the same area so six of one half dozen of the other. The places it works much better on are farther down the duct where your regular scraper can't get leverage and it works just as good up close as it does farther down the duct.

The last 2 pictures are of what can happen if you dont use them properly. The face shot happened in a tight confined lateral after trying to yank the scraper off the duct (they stick like a motherfker) while using regular painters poles instead of the $50 poles that you are supposed to use(my bad). It shaved a chunk out of my face and I was bleeding pretty good for a while, luckily we hadn't started spraying chemical yet or I am sure I would have been crying like a little bitch. The finger shot is from the blades on the scraper. If you aren't careful when you are changing them, you can get a nasty cut so bring lots of band aids. There must be 10 different warnings about this on the scraper and in the instructions but at 4 in the morning after being stuck in a duct for 3 hours, people tend to get a little careless.

So there are pros and cons, just like any other tool. I'd say next to the duct spinner, the foamer and the spray flex wand it is the best tool ever invented for exhaust cleaners :D
