Lonely Late Night Concrete Cleaners!!!

Hey all you one man crew, lonely late night concrete cleaners. Beside the work, what do you guys do to pass the time? Lots of breaks? Talking to the wife on the cell phone? Portable tv`s?
I`ve been listening to my favorite late night talk shows on my walkman.
Out of curiousity, what did everyone do before entering the pressure wash. business? I myself, was in the bar business. And sometimes I miss being around all the people and excitement. Anybody have any thoughts on the subject?

Who has time to talk to the wife while working? in fact who gets lonely?

When I get to the job site I am all business and not play, I rest between drives from one job to the next but some are only a couple miles apart.

I do break for a cup of java once or twice but that is it.

Heck come to think of it wife sleeps while I work.

Do you call yours at 1,2,3 or 4 AM and wake her up because your lonely, if so why not take her with you!

Jon

Jon, everytime i call she answers the phone and says your working. LOL,, she not sleeping buddy.....
Just kidding Jon, i'm sure i woke her up..

what do i do late at night? i want to sleep. I have been up since 5:00 am and i want to go to bed, but one of my trucks is going out late and i need to make sure it does.

I talk on the phone, 9000 minutes a month. I log on as everyone knows. 6 or 7 thousand posts.

I'm never bored either, i guess whne i first started you could think about alot of stuff. its kind of lonely out there in the middle of the night.

I have done alot of things but have always done PW since i was little. i remove Snow when i was little. I raked leafs when i was a kid. My Dad would never let me cut lawns for people. maybe that was a good idea. I could never figure out why he would let me run a snow blower???? LOL

:(

My breaks are taken when I'm driving from one job to the other and listening to the radio in my truck. I like the Walkman Idea.

On my "Other Job" where I also work nites my breaks are taken in the Computer room where I just wait for the phone to ring and if it don't ring(You can't make it ring) I'm pounding away on he computer reading these bb's.

Oh did I also say I have a day job to doing residential work. I love to work...just like my Old man.:)

Call me smart, call me stupid but one thing I try to do is avoid taking jobs in areas I know are gang controled.

Perhaps my deafness has something to do with it but I could not hear anyone walking up behind me or even if a few guys were talking several feet away so I lean on the side of safety.

Now I do have accounts that have locations in those area's and if I am asked to do them I have to.

Have often thought of getting a CCP but have not done so yet.

Ron Remy probably would not answer the phone after 10 PM anyway even if she was awake.

Jon

Mike that is pretty much true here and I guess you could say knowing our assistance chief of police would help me!

However I would still have to pass the entire test, be clear of any record and have proof of need, that part is easy, gangs at night while I work.

The part about passing the entire test would be pretty easy too except you have to pass the shooting test with the gun you want to carry.

So using the wife's 38 to pass a test and then switching to my 9 mm would not be wise.

Not proficient enough with the 9 yet to pass a test on.

Jon

Tony good idea, never tought of that even though legally need a permit for that too here in CA.

Mike another good idea, have this 12 gauge that is still in box, never even took out the shipping plugs yet and it is for close range.

Wish my brother in law who is a Lt. would be nice to me and buy the conversion kit so I can load more shells in it, what is it from 5 to 7 or something like that. Can only get those with letterhead from police department.

Jon

Jon,
Unless the law has recently changed again, their is no permit needed for pepper spray in CA, unless you have a City Ordinance that say so. Used to be you needed one for Mace and Teargas, but when OC(pepper spray) came out, they changed the law.

Jon,

I thought California was pretty liberal - sounds like you folks have laws to control everything.

Just aim your spinner at 'em - spit some hot water their way.

This should take care of any trouble you get into out there in the field.

The way it seems to me, CA is a bit backwards. They are liberal in the things they should be conservative about, and conservative about the things they should be liberal about! Spend piles of money and inconvenience millions to save some trees and bunnies, but you better not carry a gun to protect yourself....

Alan just might be right about the law changing, I just have not checked that end of it out so am not sure, doing my old thing, talking before I put my brain in gear!

As for Oneness and Paul B. try a bit of both.

I won't say CA is the best state to live in or has to many laws but I will say it is worst then some and better then other states.

I truly do not believe there is any one state that is perfect or has enough of the right laws we would love to say THAT is where we are going to live.

Show me a nice city of say 35,000 with low crime, nice people and fair weather and that is say an hour and half from a major metropolitan city and I would check it out.

Jon

Jon:

Sounds like you need to come to Gainesville!

Fairly low crime, we're an hour and a half from not one, not two, but THREE metropolitan areas (Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa). The weather is great most of the time, though the humidity is oppressive in the summer. Population is a bit higher, though, around 100,000 or so.

Personally, I'd love to move to the West Coast, somwhere near the coast between Eureka and Portland. Problem is, family is here and I can't move away from them. So my West Coast desires are relegated to trips when we can, for now anyway.

No offense, Jon............but if talking requires such effort, should they really give you a permit to carry a gun????

Now Mike behave, at least I can talk even if I can't hear good.

Better to have that permit and know when they see a gun in my hand they will hopefully think twice before doing something stupid.

Would I think twice before aiming and shooting, no as I would not do it unless I knew my life was in danger.

I would never point it at anything or anyone unless I plan to shoot.

Besides like I said, Remy is against my getting a permit so I have held off for now.

Oneness now your talking, almost any city above San Francisco would be lovely, the higher above the better, cool, damp and green with no humidity to worry about, only FOG!

Used to live in Santa Cruz many a moon ago, long before a lot of you here were born.
