Going to do my first bid this weekend BUT....

The bid will be for 2 decks, paver patio, and driveway. I feel comfortable washing houses and driveways/patios but not so much with decks. I have spent most of my time searching house mixes, equipment, bidding, and how to run a pressure washing business but I've been lacking in the wood restoration department. He is just wanting to get the decks washed so he can stain/seal them later. I don't want to turn the job down as it is my first one and in a wealthy neighborhood but I cant help but feel a little over my head. Also I have signed up for Doug's class in Des Moines, IA but that's not until July 18th. In the mean time it looks like I will be focusing my attention on wood restoration. I will post pictures of the decks/driveways this weekend.

1. Decks have a stain now? If so are they going to use the same stain? If not using the same stain you need to strip and brighten.

2. You can price them by sqft size but not having the experience you might want to figure a ball park time it will take to clean. You are the one that knows what $ you need to make hourly to make a profit on your jobs after you pay your expenses.

3. You are also cleaning other stuff so there so price the decks depending on how difficult they will be and don't sell yourself short either.

When you post some pics it will be easier to see what needs to be done to the decks....

Don't stress it we all have to start some where. If you are only doing a wash it should be relatively easy to accomplish. go easy on the pressure and let the chemicals do the work.

I don't know if the deck has been stained or not. I guess I'll put that question down on my "things to ask the customer" list. I just got off the phone and set the bid time for 9am Saturday, after I am down I will upload pictures and be able to give more information. I told him I wouldn't be able to get to it until next weekend so that gives me time to study the processes and practice on my neighbors deck.

Count the number of steps and linear feet of railing and type/size of rail spindles, these add time to the job.
