An early-morning fire at a Chinese restaurant on Broadway was quickly extinguished by Knoxville firefighters.
The blaze at Dynasty Express, 4911 N. Broadway, was reported about 8:34 a.m., said Knoxville Fire Department Capt. Darrell Whitaker.

The first trucks arrived about 8:38 a.m.
A burner underneath a wok was left on overnight, Whitaker said.
The fire suppression system worked, Whitaker said, but the wok was large and the fire overpowered the system.
The blaze went up the ventilation system and that saved the building from being destroyed, Whitaker said.
The fire was localized in the kitchen.
Nobody was injured, Whitaker said.
The kitchen will have to be repaired, and the Health Department will have to inspect the restaurant before it can reopen, Whitaker said.
