I always buy 1 wire braid hoses and drag them a lot.
I have had ends pop off before the outer cover blows out.
I usually look inside the hose to see what shape it is in, a lot of times when it blows out, the outer casing is separating from the rest so it is time to throw it away.
I have tried repairing hoses a couple times when the outer casing was starting to separate but the repair did not last a minute, took longer to get the hose off the reel for the repair than how long the repair lasted.
Take a good look inside the hose, sometimes you will not like what you see and decide it is time to replace the hose. It would be nice if they last for years and years but they wear out, wire rusts, covers separate, ends come off, hose busts, holes appear, cover gets worn off from dragging, etc..... making them stronger would make them heavier and cost more so sometimes it is not worth it for a much better hose but always get the hose rated for your equipment and if you run hot water.
