I am curious what you guys use to clean mildewed decks.
I keep hearing " do not use bleach" then I hear people that do use it.
I want to give custumers the cleanest deck that I can.
I am content in useing Wolman's brightener, but what about a good cleaner???
Thanks for the help.
Also what about dwell times???

There is a reformulated Wolman's All Exterior Wood cleaner and Brightner concentrate. It is blue in color in the 1 gal jug of concentrate. I have had excellent results in using this product in removing mildew. Some will tell you to use bleach and others will not. I won't use it. Try to keep in mind that when you spill bleach on your blue jeans and you are destroying the lignin of the cloth (wood). The same will apply to the decks and fences. Personally, not worth destroy the wood prematurely when we are trying to preserve the wood. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hey Everybody,

Sun Brite has an excellent deck cleaner "SAFEWASH"
it's an oxygenated bleach (powder form) disolves in warm water
No neutralizing needed. visit us at www.sunbritedecks.com click on products, (Have a Sun Brite Day)

Thank You Chris Detter
:) :) :)

Chris,

I have tried SafeWash, and liked it.........but, what will it do for the mold?? If mold is involved, would you recommend regular bleach instead?

Chris,

glad you mentioned Safewash. i keep several tubs and use it when the deck needs to be cleaned only. Having talked with you at sunbrite, I used the brightner after using the safewash. What a difference it made using the brightner after the safe wash. I did several test areas with using the brightner vs not using it and couldn't beleive the difference. The safewashes oxy based does need some special precaution. Let the container you mixed the safewash in "breath" or youwill have a mess if you are transporting it to the job site. Also, it dissolves best with warm water, but will dissolve in cold. I mix it a little stronger when heavy mildew and mold are present and it seems to work just fine. It's a great product as is the brightner. Hey, love the "deckster" sprayer. Used the left over cardboard carton as a barrier for spraying next to the house.

Chris,
I too have used your product. It works well for cleaning but I resort myself to the old bleach & detergent mixture when I see the big old green monster!

Glad to hear you are doing well buddy! Looked forward to seeing you again in Pittsburgh...maybe next year!
