Computer Equiped Van

Jotto desk with a lap top of your choice. You can either get a 12V mobile printer or run a regular printer off a inverter and power your laptop as well.

Take some wood, and build you a small desk behind the drivers seat that you can house a printer below and have some storage for files and keep your laptop in a holder that you make for it or just a case when needed

The tough books are tought but you pay for it and stock they are somehwat sparse on features since they are mainly sold to military police and fire for use as MDC terminals. To get them to a level of memory, speed and options you will spend some coin to get it to a level that a mid level lap top will provide
I do like them but again they are pricey.
Look at a good lap top with a manufactureres warranty . No matter what in 3 years start looking for a new laptop since the hard drives on laptops tend to go south much quicker in them due to the environment they are subjected to. Also watch the heat and extrememe cold all computers don't like that.

I have a semi tough Toughbook. Won't stop a .223 round, but will withstand a 6' drop, water proof keyboard and screen, 3 year warranty. 3 gigs or RAM, 160 Gig hardrive. Spnt $1500 delivered..

In my big truck I wasted a HP laptop in 3 months, had the warranty work done. Now I use the HP for home use, the Toughbook for mobile.

Was it the heat of being in the cab all the time? Chemicals? Constantly falling down?

What did they say damaged it?

I just had a saleperson get one stolen, I'm not as upset about the cams and laptop as the Damage he did jerking it out and the damage he did to the door.

He got robbed in daylight Phx by grainger, he was picking up a pedal for our hydrolic press.

Maybe your guys should start packing guns if they don't already, I would not have a problem with that just have your attorney make something that would not hold you responsible if something happens while on the clock. That might be hard to do but it might be worth it as the gun might save their life one day or nite.

Vibration, and heat. Neither seam to faze the Toughbook.

Get LoJack for laptops. You can find it on eBay for much cheaper than retail. Soon as the thief connects to the Internet, the cops are on their way.

I hate a thief, especially a thief that steals from a working man. There surely is a special place in hell for that sort of POS. Maybe with the child molesters.

Chris, I pack wherever I go. But unfortunately that doesn't help when I'm inside a store or far enough away from my vehicle. I've been meaning to upgrade to one of those paging alarms for my truck. I'd love to catch some thief in my truck someday.
