Check this mess out. Yes that is what we pulled from a downspout. It was packed solid with roots growing all the way to the 2nd story roof. Sad thing is these buildings 32 of them get there gutters cleaned out every 12 months. They hired us finally because they banged on one of the downspouts after the other contractor was done and they knew he wasnt doing his job. We found 5 downspouts pretty much as bad. This stuff took a few years at least to get this bad. We also found many other downspouts clogged just not quite as bad as this mess. I know what the other contractor was doing...NOT much, maybe blowing out the gutters but not doing anything to the downspouts.

I sent the picture to the manager & HOA, they have a lot of trees, I just got them to sign for gutter cleaning twice a year.

As long as they stay with JL Pressure Washing they will never have to worry about clogged gutters and downspouts

See, i always think about the property manager and how they must feel (duped) about contractors. Then I think about the HOA and how they must feel towards the P.M...... It almost seems to me, that the P.M. might want to take a look at the contract and sue the former contractor, or at least have a judge order him to make it right. I dunno. Accountability:nono:

You would think that something like that would happen but rarely if ever it does. A lot of times the contractor is a friend or relative of someone that works there.

It is a shame that contractors are ripping off PM's and HOA's like that but a lot of times there is someone covering for them, again, usually a friend or relative.

I agree, there should be Accountability, if there was then things like this would not happen much, if ever.

If the PM did go to court and show the evidence and sue for some of the money back, it would set a good example for others to follow and maybe then contractors would be more Accountable but until then people are still getting away with doing shoddy work.
 
hey jeff,

what do you use to clean the downspouts? a gloved hand is the best tool i have found for gutters but my arm isn't long enough for the downspouts. what's the secret?

No really,

To check downspout we stick the blower at it and see if its flows free, we use a 25 foot electricians metal snake we check all elbows, tap on all straight sections nd bottom elbow, if its clogged flush with water or something like in that picture we just dismantle the downspout.
