Chemical scent additive

Does anyone add scents to there housewash mix? I know a few places sell them but I was wondering if there was a cheaper scent that can be added to 12.5%.

That chlorine smell is hard to overcome.

I've been told that lemon, citrus extract would work. But I haven't used it yet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like the scent to be pretty strong.

The stuff that espec sells is OK but I would have to add a quart of the stuff to my 5 gallon housewash mix for it to be strong enough. This wouldn't be cost effective.

When I've added scents in the past I've gotten a great response from my customers. Especialy the Eucalyptus scent.

Hopefully I can get a cheap concetrate the would work.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

what about vanilla extract? It removes the odor from new paint (just a couple of drops per gallon) and it doesn't affect the color. I dont do house washing so it is purely speculative.

Hi Grant
Thank makes good sense. Now you have me thinking in another direction also. I do deck sealing and I wounder if extract would take some of the smell out of that.

Do you use the vanila extract with oil base paints?

Thanks for the response.

Thanks Russ

I planning on trying your Tide idea. Does it help to use a rinse aide. I would think the tide would extend the rinse time.

My mixes do vary because of the job requirements but basically it's 1gallon of 12.5% and a dash of dawn to every 5 gallons. How much Detergent do you recommend as a starting point.

Thanks
Dan
