bad experiences

For me it was getting to close to Larry!!

I never wash for owner operators. Had one one once watch me the entire time 5 feet from me, arms folded saying, get that, are you going to get that, what about that there it took forever and he was only semi satisfied.
Had another guy insist that I brush every inch of his truck and trailer including the back side of his 2 story cab ferring. He told me this after I showed up to work and we had an agreed price. I told him to find someone else.
We only wash for compaines now no O/O.

I love when the home owner is there as well.
I will in general not care as much where the overspray goes. hehehehe

We had people want to watch us acid (muratic) wash a pool. We tell them that they may want to go inside. Some say OK and others stay, just long enough to get choked by the fumes. Then they run!
You'd think that the PPE that we wear would be a give away for them, DUH.

I did a Tile Roof which I called a potato chip Roof a few years ago and busted ALOT of Tiles. I came down to let the lady know what was going on and if she wanted us to continue but she had left. I made a decision to keep going. She came home as we were finishing and flipped out when I told her. Told me my ins would have to pay for the repairs.(basically a new roof) I told her no way the Tiles were inferior and most were damaged before we even started. She called her husband at work and said that I was giving her a hard time. ( Drama queen). He left work and came FLYING in the driveway and came after me. Haha! Not a good idea. ( Nick, ask Peter about that one.) After calming him down we decided he would pay me half the money and have a Roofer check it out to see if it was my fault or not. 2 weeks later I got a check for the rest of the money.

How about the time I killed 2 Koi fish and 3 gold fish and the guy was trying to get my ins company to pay over $17K for the fish and a pump (which I didn't break) The fish were only worth a couple hundred dollars. Called the guy to settle up with him and found out he went to prison 1 day earlier for real estate fraud. He's still in prison.

Then there is the lady who came out after we finished a job and started going nuts rubbing a mahogany door with a bath towel to remove some over spray and took all the finish off her door and wanted me to replace her $ 20k french doors. Took a week before her refinishing guy told her it wasn't my fault. She finally apologized and paid me. I got a bunch of these stories. You meet some strange people and run into some weird situations when dealing with the public. That's why it's always a good idea to keep your ins coverage paid up to date. You just never know!

Hmmm, owner operators sound very much like chinamen.

I had that about a year ago the owner set his little mini-me to watch us. He was all over us the entire time until we started pressure washing the fan bowl and we left a bunch of crud in the bottom and the first time he hit it with the pressure washer it blew little globs of grease all over him. He screamed like a wet fan belt and ran down the ladder saying "something"

He cleaned up and watched TV the rest of the evening. At the end he did go thru the system and was happy but him being there just irked me.

Wow, we won't even go into houses anymore because they complain about finger prints on the air filter registers. Life is too short to deal with that kind of stuff. Give me the privacy of a commercial rooftop at night and I'm happy.

There have been a couple of times that a customer watching turned into a great thing!! We were cleaning this old guys roof and he came out and said he wanted to see how we could clean his roof without using pressure.

As he watched the stains dissapear, you could see him getting excited, he started smiling, and cracking jokes. Then went and got his neighbor and gushed about how amazing it was. we ended up doing both houses.

I like it even more when neighbors are walking the dog, or something and stop by and see their neighbors house looking better than theirs. Nothing sells like someone watching your process work right before their eyes.
