Air Diaphram pump, Roof Cleaning Equipment

I finally ordered an air diaphram pump.

I bought it off ebay on impulse. ts the old tried and true Yamada NDP-15 in the Poly version, I would have probably ordered the All-Flo from Lori anyway but no one there thought enough of me to return my phone calls for 2 straight months so I gave up on it.

Anyway I am going to run hook it up this weekend, mainly I am going to use it for softwashing dryvit buildings, condos and homes. We have ran into a lot more LARGE homes that it will be perfect for plus a roof hear and there as well.

I will let you know what I think of it compared to the old trusty dusty Fatboy I have loved for so long!

Had the same problem with trying to get an air flo. Tried to order for two months couldn't get a return call. Having Paul Kassander at Power Wash Store build me a unit now as we speak. Let me know how the Yamada works out, looked at those through Paul also. Good Luck with it, bet you got a great deal off Ebay.

Just ordered a flo jet from Bob. Did I mess up by not getting a yamada or air flo? Anyone know the pro's and con's on these different air pumps?
I'll be running 90psi 10.3 scfm to mine from a gas air comp.

Can these handle transfering straight Sh?

This one can but not forever, mine is the poly version but the thing I understand is that even the kynar versions are not fool proof.

My take is this, simply rinse after each use and you will extend the life of the pump!

As far as the Flojet I have no idea? I am sure that since Bob is selling it he is selling one that will handle the juice.

I don't run air pumps but vie heard good things about the All Flo, flojet and the Yamada.

Next time you try a 12v you gotta get the new Flojet Pentaflex.

I think everybody should have an all-flo pump.I have had mine for 2 years and pumped roof mix, muratic acid, hydrofloric acid, caustic mixes and any other great mix we use and it works great. If you get the pressure much over a 100psi it might stall every now and then.I run mine around 95 psi and have no problems.

Ive had a delevan 5850 which died after less than a year and 2 yamadas which all died after a little more than a year. Most likely because I was using them as transfer pumps and I tend to be a little lackadasical about rinsing...

Now I have a flojet air pump from Bob. It has been great for cleaning roofs with. Hasnt quit on me once. I havent used it to transfer and I dont plan to because It would probably kill it.

Ive also got the all flo. I had it locked up within a month using it to transfer sh. I had been using it as advertised (not rinsing it) Ever since then I have rinsed it after every use and have had zero trouble out of it. IMO it is the absolute best option for a transfer pump.

And the newest addition to my collection is the flo jet 12volt pump from Bob. I put it on the truck because I didnt have room for anything else. Its done good so far.

Its all hooked up, honestly not too much difference that I can see?

The Fatboy with a acumulator tank and 1/2 inch hose with 0040 qne 1540, 2540 tips rocks!

Dont get me wrong the air diaphram IS better but not that much, I need to tweak it some tomorrow and try some different tips ........... Got any suggestions so I can shorten the learning curve?

I bought the air diaphragm pump but have not bought the air compressor yet, waiting a little bit longer to see what will happen with the other pumps first.

I have bought an air compressor, but not an air pump :).. I've got an used one from an auto shop that probably will not work as it should...

As far as the 12v fatboy, it does great. I am also thinking to go back to 1/2 braided hose like Mike V. the 5/8 is great but its too bulky and I don't feel a huge difference. The 1/2 can fit 300 feet and more on the reel, the 5/8 is 200ft

The only reason I would use the air pump is for higher 3+ story condo building roofs that I am planning to market in the infinity future which probably will never happen..

I use a 5850 for tranfering chems right now and it works great. Using a 12 volt with an unrestricted end (No Tips) keeps it from cycling on and off and doesn't blow fuses or heat up the pump. For all the applications of mixes I use my AllFlo air pump. I will NEVER go back to using a 12 volt to apply with.

Russ, I use a 0030, 0020 for best results on distance. For spraying (fan tips) I use a plastic chemical tip. I have no idea what size it it. It has no #'s on it. It's green in color though. My suggestion is to try different ones till you find whats comfortable and works best. The best thing about the air pumps is that you can use ANY size you want without worrying about burning up the pump. For best results add an external regulator right before the pump and try not to go over 100psi o it. Suddden bursts of psi over 100 are not good for the diaphram on those pumps. Also add an accumulator before the pump to capture any unwanted moisture which is not good for the mechanism.
