Surface Cleaner Question

I have a 3.5 GPM 4000 PSI Machine that i use with my 20" surface cleaner. I know the set-up is a bit big for my machine. Can I change the tips to make it work more efficiently with my set-up?

Also, been cleaning a lot of 2 story stone/brick homes. I bought the telescoping wand but do not like it! I'm going to try out a long wand to reach the top of the homes. What sizes work best for you all? I'm thinking a 7 - 8 footer?

The surface cleaner is just too big for your setup. Not much you can do about it. The ideal tips for you are probably 2502 tips. Or you may get it cleaner with 1502 tips. But that would make it clean even slower.

If downstreaming isn't working maybe try an x jet? There is usually no need to use a telescoping wand. I don't know much about cleaning brick though. Not many brick houses around here. I would think an x jet or maybe a roof pump would work to get a strong enough mix on there so you wouldn't need an extension wand.

I'm going to look into the 2502 tips to see if that helps. As far as the stone/brick i returned the telescoping wand and got a 79" extension wand to see if it works well. I got the idea from doug ruckers post in his class thread in the roundtable forum. I might try an x jet also i think that might just do the trick. the easier the better. Thanks for the input!
 
generally.. you need 5gpm for every 20 of surface cleaner width.. if you want to go FAST..
12" deck.. 3.5gpm
21" deck.. 6 to 7gpm
30" deck.. 10 to 15gpm

Jerry, are those times/optimum sizes against hot or cold machines?
 
Yes,
in surface cleaners..
Volume (gpm) and nozzle spray angle (width of spray) are you "WorkSpeed"
Pressure, and Heat, and Chemical action, are for "quality of Clean".

the Vacuuming version surface cleaner..
read this through, ..because you can't read my mind..

the Vacuuming versin is MORE EFFICIENT..
it SUCKS the water OUT FROM UNDER the deck, away from the spray-nozzles,
allowing the spray-impact to be IMPROVED over a standard version surface cleaner,
thereby increasing your effective use of time, water, fuel, profitability,
and making it easier to get a contract through a more compelling demonstration.

Ahh exactly the info i was looking for more or less. Guess i'l just have to downsize or keep going slow. So the 2502 tips i got on there are probably my best bet anyway huh? I don't go as fast as I would like but it does a decent job on residential flat surfaces. I'm wondering if I down size to the 12" if it would decrease my times. I would be cleaning faster but covering less ground? 'Preciate the help.

The 12" would probably get things done quicker for you. The work speed would more than make up for covering less ground. I would actually go with a 16", but I'm sure Jerry knows better than me. He's the expert.

wider spray nozzles will give you more forward speed with less zebra-striping,
but quality of clean will go down.
..I like to say "The Jobsite tells YOU what it needs"
.. meaning.. if the surface is easy to clean, do the wider nozzles, and go FASTer..
Time is money. EH?
